Yorkshire have found themselves in a crazy situation after Adil Rashid, only contracted for the limited-overs series, got a recall for the first Test against India, according to director of coaching Martyn Moxon.

Meanwhile, Adil Rashid penned a deal with Yorkshire for white-ball cricket at the start of 2018. He also noted he doesn’t wish to play the longer format of the game any further.

However, the recent performances of Adil Rashid in the limited-overs had forced his comeback to the Test arena. But Moxon expresses his frustration on the head selector, Ed Smith for not considering how this decision might affect the county.

It’s a crazy situation that we are employing him to play white-ball cricket and he can’t play that for us in important games because he is now playing red-ball cricket, which he has not wanted to play,” Moxon told BBC Radio 5 live.

Martyn Moxon hoped Adil Rashid would play red-ball cricket again.

Martyn Moxon further admitted Yorkshire board would sit with Adil Rashid to discuss the future course of action. Moxon reiterated Rashid recently has confirmed that he doesn’t want to red-ball cricket next year.

I hope [Rashid will play for Yorkshire again]. As I said to him, we will sit down with his agent and discuss the future going forward. Adil has certainly got value to us. The problem we’ve got is that we have been put in a difficult situation. Only recently Adil told us again that he didn’t want to be considered for red-ball cricket next year; we’ve been thinking about our squad with that in mind,” he added.

In conclusion, Martyn Moxon once again vented out his frustration on Ed Smith for not considering the consequences of this selection. The first of the five-match Test series starts from August 1 at Edgbaston.
