After MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and 1983 World Cup, Mithali Raj too Gets a Biopic

After a brilliant World Cup run, Indian women’s team have inspired a lot of young girls to take cricket as a profession. India reached finals of the 2017 World Cup, losing a close encounter to the hosts in the most watched women’s cricket match ever.

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures have now come up with a huge statement and they will make a biopic on India captain Mithali Raj.

Mithali spoke to the media and said,

“I am extremely happy on this association with Viacom18 Motion Pictures. Hoping that this movie inspires more people especially young girls to take up sports as a career,”

Viacom 18 Motion Pictures have produced big movies such, as Queen, Manjhi: The Mountain Man, Drishyam, and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag are now all set to take women cricket to another level.

Ajit Andhare, COO, Viacom18 Motion Pictures, in his statement said,  “Viacom18 Motion Pictures has always been the pioneer in showcasing content with a portrayal of strong women characters right from ‘Queen’ to ‘Kahaani’ to ‘Mary Kom’.

“We are proud to be collaborating with the young and inspirational Mithali Dorai Raj, a name single-handedly responsible in bringing about a shift in the way women’s cricket team was perceived in our country.” He further added.

The director of Medallin Sports, Varun Chopra is the one who brought Viacom 18 Motion Pictures and Mithali Raj together.

“Mithali remains to be an inspiration for multitudes for many years now and her story on the silver screen will keep motivating generations.” Chopra said.
