Former India pacer, Ajit Agarkar has opined on the woes of Chennai Super Kings in the IPL this season. He feels MS Dhoni shouldn’t be batting lower than the number five position.

The Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings have had a terrible season so far, as they are positioned at the bottom of the points table, and are on the verge of not qualifying for the playoffs for the first time in IPL history.

He shouldn’t be batting lower than No.5: Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar has strongly put forth his view on the CSK’s batting order and Dhoni position in it. At times CSK have sent out Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja ahead of MS Dhoni this season. Agarkar believes MS Dhoni shouldn’t be batting below the number 5 spot. The pacer understands that tactics are used at certain times, but says that number five should be the lowest for MS Dhoni to bat.

Talking on the Star Sports’ Fan Week, Agarskar said, “In my opinion, MS Dhoni shouldn’t be batting lower than No.5. It will obviously depend on what the situation is, but the lowest, he should go is No.5.”

Ajit Agarkar hailed Dhoni as one of the greatest brains in cricket. He talks about Dhoni’s special vision of seeing things and situations, which is unique and separates him from other cricketers. He also said Dhoni’s form gets better as the tournament progresses.

“He is arguably one of the greatest cricketing brains to ever play the game. He can see things and assess situations which other players can’t and you can see, as the tournament progress, his forms getting better as well,”

So, he shouldn’t be batting lower than No.5 for me,” Agarkar added.

Chennai will face Mumbai Indians on Friday in Sharjah. CSK has claimed six points in 10 matches, and in order to qualify for the playoffs, not only they have to win all their games, but also hope for results of other teams to go their way.
