Alex Carey Keen To Join Forces With 'Explosive And Dynamic' Rishabh Pant In Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals made one of the smartest buys ahead of the 13th season in Alex Carey. Alex Carey, Australia’s white-ball gloveman will don an IPL team’s jersey for the first time this year after proving his mettle for the national team. The South Australian stated he is looking forward to teaming up with Rishabh Pant, the swashbuckling Indian keeper-batsman.

Delhi Capitals bought Alex Carey for INR 2.4 crores in the concluded IPL auction in December. Carey is a reasonably experienced T20 cricketer with 74 games under his belt so far. The 28-year old plies his trade for the Adelaide Strikers in the Big Bash League, where he has amassed 1163 runs in 35 games, striking at 129.22. Carey was part of the Adelaide Strikers’ squad that won the BBL in 2017.
Alex Carey termed Rishabh Pant as explosive and dynamic as a batsman, revealing that it would be great to talk to him and see him play. The South Australian added that Pant has some of the most unconventional shots in the book and would love to have a chat regarding his mindset.
“I suppose, you know, chatting to Rishabh and the way he plays his cricket. Obviously, wicketkeeper-batsman and he’s so explosive and dynamic, as a batsman.
“It will be great to talk to him, he’s quite unconventional in some of his cricket shots, it’s amazing to see him play, so probably have a good chat about mindset with him,” Alex Carey said as quoted by ESPN Cricinfo.

Alex Carey added that he feels excited to be part of the extravaganza, which they all watch and admire around the world.
The southpaw is looking forward to working with opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan as well, who is also a left-handed batsman and a big-match performer. Delhi Capitals also snapped the likes of Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Jason Roy, Anrich Nortje while Ravichandran Ashwin and Ajinkya Rahane have come in as transfers.
“Yeah, it’s really exciting. It will be my first opportunity playing the IPL, so firstly it’s just exciting to be a part of that competition, which we all watch and admire around the world in the T20 format. Shikhar Dhawan is so experienced in the top order, and has performed on massive occasions as well. Again, another left-hand batter. So [I am] keen to speak to him,” the 28-year old added. further.
