Former Team India legend Anil Kumble is one of the most excellent spinners the world has ever witnessed. He is just third in the list for bowlers with most wickets in Test cricket. Fondly known as Jumbo, Kumble reveals about the most defying moment of his career.

Kumble is just behind the likes of ace-spinner  Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne who are considered as two legends of the game.

Kumble despite not having the same amount of luck as the other two went on to become one of the greatest-ever match winners for India especially in the longest format of the game.

In his career spanning 18 years, Kumble went on to play 132 Tests and bagged 619 wickets in the process at an average of 29.65. He was a big match player for India especially in the longest format and bowled India to several victories in overseas conditions.

Kumble has performed in all conditions. Kumble was never a huge turner of the ball, but his pace variations were enough to give him 619 Test wickets in his career.

Former Team India skipper Sourav Ganguly has time and again claimed that there hadn’t been a bigger match winner for India than Kumble in Test cricket.

Despite his success as a leg spin bowler, not many would know that Kumble started off his cricketing career as a medium fast bowler.

However, his teammates suggested after a short time that he had a suspect action. But Kumble decided to persuade with his dreams and became a leg-spinner.

Kumble considers it as the most defying moment in his career.

Taking to his Instagram handle Anil Kumble shared a post where he revealed the most defying moment in his career.

“Not many of you would know this, but during my early years, I was a medium pacer. However, that didn’t last long, as many seniors & fellow club players told me that I had a suspect action. Instead of giving up on my dreams, I persevered. I reformed my bowling style and became a leg spinner. And for me, that was #MyDefyMoment,” Kumble stated.

“I am sure, like me, there are many of you out there who have had their defiant moments. Let’s get this movement of positivity rolling. I would like to nominate @faroutakhtar, @ritesh_sid and all my fans to join this movement and share their defiant moment using the hashtag #MyDefyMomen,” Kumble said.
