Team India leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal has been quite a sensation in the limited-overs for the national team.

Over the last couple of years, he has gone on to establish himself as a frontline spinner of the Indian national team in both ODI’s and T20I’s replacing the like of Ravichandran Ashwin. Kuldeep Yadav has also partnered him on most of the occasions. The duo has been quite spectacular in the limited opportunities they have got in their career so far.

Chahal is known as a bowler who doesn’t spin the ball a lot but gives it a rip. On spinning tracks, he is exceptional. On pitches which don’t suit his style of bowling, Chahal managed to change his lengths and still be successful. Along with Kuldeep, the dup tormented the South African batting line-up when India toured the Rainbow Nation early in the year.

They made the South African batters dance to their tunes and ended up bagging 33 wickets between them which were instrumental in handing India their first ever series victory on the South African soil.

The Men in Blue then went on to defeat the Proteas by a 2-1 margin in the three-match T20I series. Chahal became the frontline spinner for India just after Ashwin and Jadeja produced a rather mediocre performance in the Champions Trophy last year.

Even for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chahal has been quite spectacular. However, this year wasn’t as productive for Chahal, as it was in the previous years.

He bagged just 12 wickets in 14 matches. His form was a major concern for Bangalore in the tournament. He hasn’t got an opportunity to make a mark in the Test format, but his debut in Tests seems just around the corner.

It must be noted that Chahal played his first ODI a couple of years ago on the same date. He was handed over his ODI cap by none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Recalling that big day in his life, Chahal shared a post on his Instagram handle. He shared the picture where he is seen receiving his maiden ODI cap from Dhoni.

Chahal never thought of representing India,

“Coming from a small town of Jind in Haryana, I never thought I would go on and represent my country. But If you dream big, work hard with sincerity, dreams do come true. Two years ago on this day, my dream came true when I got my India cap from the legend himself @mahi7781. Will cherish this moment for life #twoyearsbleedingblue,” Chahal captioned.
