The Asia Cup 2018 match between India and Afghanistan in Dubai ended in a thrilling tie. Though the result of the game had no bearing in the outcome of the tournament, it was indeed a significant achievement for Afghanistan. However, what made headlines was not the result, but a kid named Arjan Singh, who broke down catching all the attention.

The ‘Crying-Kid’ opened up in an interview

However, after winning the first two matches against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, Afghanistan lost narrowly against Pakistan and Bangladesh which eventually knocked them out of Asia Cup 2018. It was the inexperience which showed in their performance all through the tournament. The batsmen and bowlers were both upto the mark and almost sealed both the matches.

However, during the match against India, Afghanistan posted a competitive total of 252 which was mostly possible due to the great knock of 124 runs off 116 deliveries by Mohammad Shahzad. The wicket-keeper batsman plundered the Indian bowlers all around the park which studded with 11 fours and seven sixes.

Afghanistan held India to a thrilling tie

It was a good half-century by Mohammad Nabi which eventually propelled Afghanistan to a competitive score of 252 runs.

The two makeshift openers, Ambati Rayudu and KL Rahul, began terrifically and shared a 110-run stand which put India in complete control of proceedings. The target never looked difficult, as the Men in Blue managed to get off to a great start.

However, they were pegged back in the middle overs, as wickets kept falling in regular intervals. It was a great piece of bowling by Rashid Khan and Co which took the match to the final over.

The 20-year old was handed the ball in the last over. Ravindra Jadeja struck a four and made things easy for India. With one run required off two deliveries, Jadeja played a terrible shot which got caught safely in the deep.

Following the completion of the match in the Asia Cup 2018, a young Punjabi kid who was present in the stadium started crying holding his father. ANI later interviewed him. He revealed when Jadeja hit the ball in the air, he thought it would be a boundary.

However, when the ball got caught, he broke in tears, as he didn’t want Dhoni to lose his final match as a skipper.
