The son of legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Arjun Tendulkar has been given his first national break. The left-arm pacer has been selected in the India U-19 team for the upcoming tour of Sri Lanka slated to be held next month. The Indian junior side is slated to play four days and one day matches in the Island nation. The series will take place this year during the month of July.
The 18-year-old youngster has been picked in the squad for two four day matches that India will play in Sri Lanka. Arjun is a big name in the four-day format and will definitely look forward to his stint with the junior national team. However, he has failed to find a spot in the one-day squad. The Indian Junior side will play 5 ODI matches against Sri Lanka.
The promising youngster was part of the core group of the junior cricketers who attended the camp in Zonal Cricket Academy. The team played their matches in Una. Meanwhile, it must be noted that Aashish Kapoor, Gyanendra Pandey and Rakesh Parikh are the Indian Junior selectors. They have done a good job and it will interesting to see whether the junior Tendulkar’s inclusion will make a difference to the side.
India Junior will travel to Sri Lanka next month
The Indian Junior team will travel to Sri Lanka next month for the 4 days and ODI matches. The four-day squad will be led by wicketkeeper-batsman Anuj Rawat. He has already made his first-class debut for Delhi. It came in the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 season.
The youngster made his debut on 6th October 2017. He was also picked for the U-19 Asia Cup which took place in 2017. The one-day squad will be captained by Aryan Juyal. He made his List A debut for Uttar Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
