England pacer Stuart Broad said that his side is pretty confident about taking the remaining 7 wickets of Australia in the ongoing first Test of the Ashes 2023 at the Edgbaston in Birmingham. He feels that although they are on top of the game but they need to be right on the money as the opposition is quite dangerous when it comes to throwing a challenge.
The first Test of the Ashes 2023 is all set for an exciting finish. The game stand evenly poised with just three sessions to go. While Australia needs 174 runs, England is 7 wickets away from the win but they would be having the momentum on their side because they already have removed David Warner, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne.

After England were bundled out for 273 runs in the second innings, setting Australia a target of 280 runs, they came under a bit of pressure because openers Usman Khawaja (34*) and David Warner (36) stitched 61 runs for the opening wicket in the last session of the Day 4.
Ollie Robinson drew the first blood for his side as he removed David Warner to bring his side back into the game. But after that, it was all about Stuart Broad as he looked almost unplayable and bowled some exceptional lines and lengths, that troubled Australian batters.

Stuart Broad was in charge as he first removed Marnus Labuschagne and then followed it up with the wicket of Steve Smith on two fantastic deliveries. This put England on the front foot as they ended day 4 on high and would be hoping for a great result on Day 5.
Stuart Broad said that it’s a hard-working pitch and bowlers need to create pressure and hit hard lengths. He remarked that they are delighted with the three wickets they have taken but they can’t things lightly.
As quoted by Sky Sports, he said: “It’s all set up to be a fantastic day. We’re obviously delighted to have Warner, Marnus and Smith back in the pavilion because they’re world-class players. But we know the Aussies have got a lot of danger to come so we’ve got to be right on the money.
“I don’t think any batter is going to come in and say it’s a fantastic pitch to bat on. It’s turgid and hard to time the ball on. And no bowler’s going to say it’s not carrying or moving particularly. It’s a hard-working pitch, you’ve got to create pressure and hit the pitch as hard as you can.
Ashes 2023: We feel pretty confident we can go and get 7 wickets – Stuart Broad
Stuart Broad further went on to say that they are a result-driven team and they want to make a result possible. He added that with overcast conditions expected on Day 5, he will smile on his face.
He said: “There is still two results on the table I think. The intent from ball one was pretty clear. We are not a results driven team in any way, shape, or form and you almost add pressure on yourself when you set targets of what you want to achieve. This could have been a draw on this type of pitch so us forcing the game forward makes a result possible tomorrow.
“I think there is supposed to be a bit of cloud around tomorrow. We saw how much it zipped around when there was the cloud the other day. If you can get lucky as a bowling group and get an hour of that you can bring the game home pretty quickly. We feel pretty confident we can go and get 7 wickets and if we turn up tomorrow and there is a bit of cloud, I will have a smile on my face,” he concluded.
