Former Indian fast bowler Ashish Nehra believes Mohammed Shami is going to be India’s biggest asset for the 2019 World Cup. Shami is bowling with fire after he made a comeback into the limited overs format. The fast bowler has been in fine form as he has bowled with accuracy. Mohammed Shami was awarded the Man of the series in the five-match series against New Zealand.

Shami had scalped nine wickets in four matches against the Kiwis at an average of 15.33 and gave his runs at an economy of 4.76. Thus, Shami has made a roaring comeback into the white ball format. Shami was right on the money in the first ODI against Australia. The gun fast bowler had scalped two wickets.

Shami has bowled with fire.

Shami had scalped 2-42 in the first match in which he had taken out the big fish Glenn Maxwell. The gun fast bowler has hit the right areas with his bowling.

“Mohammed Shami has been really impressive, not just in this series and today’s game but for the last year and year-and-half. From South Africa tour I would say. Test cricket, he bowled really well. Bowled long spells. His fitness has been really really impressive,” Nehra was quoted as saying by CricketNext.

“He is going to be a big asset for India,” he further added.

On the other hand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had praised also Mohammed Shami. Kohli said that Shami has been able to reap fruits because of his fitness. The Indian captain had also praised Shami in the post-match presentation of the first ODI against Australia.

“I have never seen him (Shami) so lean. Got Maxi out with a beautiful ball. I haven’t seen him so hungrier. Heading into the World Cup, it’s a great sign for India,” Kohli said after the match.

Meanwhile, India had taken a 1-0 in the ongoing five-match series after MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav played brilliant knocks. The second ODI will take place at Nagpur on 5th March.
