Asia Cup 2018: Combined XI of the Tournament

The fourteenth edition of the Asia Cup held in Dubai was started and ended in a big note as India won the triumph for the seventh time beating Bangladesh by three wickets.

The fourteenth edition of the Asia Cup held in Dubai was started and ended in a big note as India won for the seventh time beating Bangladesh by three wickets. However, a lot has happened starting from scoring runs to taking wickets to some injuries. Interestingly, some of the fans gained a lot of popularity in the stands. A baby was seen crying after the tied match between India and Afghanistan.

Moreover, there was a Pakistan fan who was recorded singing Indian National Anthem which went viral. Lastly, there was a Pakistani mystery girl who gained the attention of the fans as well as the cameraman.

Meanwhile, there was some sad incident that took place during the tournament. Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya got an injury during the game against the arch-rivals Pakistan. He was ruled out of the tournament and will also miss the game against the Windies.

Here we will take a look at the combined XI who put up some good show in the tournament:

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma has given the responsibility to lead the team after Virat Kohli was given rest from the competition. He played exceptionally well and managed the team more significantly. India won all the matches under his captaincy in the Asa Cup 2018. However, Rohit played five games wherein he scored a brilliant century against Pakistan in the Super Four. Moreover, he scored two half-centuries and played some excellent cricketing shots throughout the tournament. Rohit scored 317 runs from the five matches that he has played.

Shikhar Dhawan

Indian opening batsman Shikar Dhawan made a good comeback in the Asia Cup 2018. He was one amongst the highest run scorer of the tournament. The southpaw scored two massive centuries one against Hong Kong in the Group stage and another against Pakistan in the Super Four. Dhawan has scored 342 runs from the five matches that he has played in the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja

The all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja backed into the team after Pandya got injured while playing against Pakistan in the Group stage match. He played some excellent cricket after being returned into the squad after a long time. Jadeja bowled tremendously well in his first match against Bangladesh where he picked up four wickets from the game. Moreover, he bagged with three wickets against the Afghanistan side. The southpaw also contributed some vital runs with his bat when India was struggling to get runs in the Asia Cup 2018.

Kuldeep Yadav

The chinaman bagged with ten wickets in the tournament. He also had an excellent competition against Australia A wherein he picked up 12 wickets from four essays. Yadav was one amongst the highest wicket-takers in the Asia Cup 2018. He bowled tremendously well against The Tiger in the final match with a good figure of 10-0-45-3.

Liton Das

The wicket-keeper batsman was struggling to get runs in the Asia Cup 2018. However, he played some excellent cricket against Afghanistan in the Super Four wherein he scored 43 balls 41. Later, Liton holds his nerves and put runs under the belt scoring 121 runs against India in the final match. His valuable runs helped the team to post a decent total of 222 runs in the thrilling final game. His 121 runs include twelve boundaries and two massive hit.

Rubel Hossain

The right arm fast bowler put some excellent show in the Asia Cup 2018. He only managed to bagged six wickets but was too economical with his bowling attack. He was one amongst the bowler who checked runs for his team as and when required. Moreover, Rubel put the pressure on the batting set up of India in the final match of the tournament with his line and length. He bowled his full quota picking up two wickets and just giving away 26 runs. The fast bowler also picked up the vital wicket of Rohit and later Jadeja, and he bowled two maiden overs.

Mohammad Shahzad

The wicket-keeper batsman played some exceptional cricket throughout the tournament. He was one amongst the run-getters of the tournament. Shahzad played some aggressive cricket against India in the Super Four scoring 116 balls 124 smashing eleven boundaries and huge seven sixes. He scored 268 runs in the Asia Cup 2018 playing five matches, and his 268 runs include an excellent hundred.

Rashid Khan

The leg-break bowler Rashid Khan was the backbone of the Afghanistan side. He picked up ten wickets from five matches in the Asia Cup 2018. He also scored an unbeaten 57 runs against Bangladesh, and they win the game with a massive margin of 136 runs. Rashid was very economical with his bowling figures, and he rattled the middle order with his bowling skill against the Men in Green.

Shoaib Malik

The veteran Shoaib Malik was at his best in the Asia Cup 2018. He scored some valuable runs under his belt and also helped with the ball. Malik scored 211 runs from the five matches that he has played and bowled some critical spell for his team. The right-hand batsman of Pakistan has given his best with the bat to save his nation in some instances.

Shaheen Afridi

Shaheen Afridi made his ODI debut against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2018. He bagged with four wickets from the three matches that he has played. He also bowled some brilliant deliveries where he troubles the batsman. Afridi also put some good show with his fielding action, and he is one of the critical bowlers of Pakistan team in recent times.

Eshan Khan

The right arm off break bowler only manages to play two matches where he picked up four wickets. He is one of the bowler with high temparament and is consistent with his economy.
