Ahead of the Asia Cup 2018, Pakistan left-arm spinning all-rounder, Imad Wasim failed to pass the much-debated Yo-Yo test on Monday, September 3. 2018. However, his teammates Hasan Ali and Shoaib Malik cleared the test and secured their position for the upcoming series.

Moreover, Head Coach Mickey Arthur has stated that no one will be selected if they failed to pass the test. Pakistan is yet to announce their final squad for the Asia Cup 2018.

Moreover, Arthur registered a minimum mark of 17.4 to clear the Yo-Yo test. However, 17 out of 18 players cleared the test who are there in the training camp. Wasim is the only player amongst the others who failed to clear the test and gets a mark of 17.2. He fell short by 0.2 points.

Furthermore, every team has its benchmark. Some have set higher than the others and vice versa. England and New Zealand are said to have the highest standards in cricket with 19 points.

However, India has the lowest benchmark for Yo-Yo fitness tests in the form of 16.1. Interestingly, many players even failed to achieve the target including players like Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina.

Regarding Imad Wasim, the management might consider another opportunity for the youngster to clear the test.

However, recently, Wasim took part in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018) for the Jamaica Tallawahs. He picked up six wickets from seven matches with an economy rate of 6.74.

However, Imad Wasim must be disappointed with the result of Yo-Yo Test result.

Imad best figures are five for fourteen. He made his first One-day International debut against Sri Lanka wherein he picked up two wickets, and Pakistan won the match by 135 runs.

The Asia Cup 2018 will commence on September 15, 2018.  Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will play the curtain raiser of the much-awaited event.
