CPL 2018: St Kitts and Nevis Patriots Rout Jamaica Tallawahs by Seven Wickets

In the ongoing sixth edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2018) An excellent batting effort from St Kitts and Nevis Patriots helped them to beat Jamaica Tallawahs by seven wickets owing to the Duckworth-Lewis (DLS) method in the high-scoring match at Warner Park, Basseterre in St Kitts on September 2 (Sunday).

However, Jamaica Tallawahs lost their first wicket when they had just 22 runs on the board. Fabian Allen was on fire with the new ball, as he removed Johnson Charles in quick succession.

Moreover, Kennar Lewis added few runs but Carlos Braithwaite’s excellent delivery dismissed the former.

Tallawahs batsman, Rovman Powell was the major contributor for his team who scored 84 runs in just 40 balls. He smashed 11 boundaries and four sixes in his entertaining knock.

However, Glenn Phillips and Povman Powell added 79 runs for their team. Furthermore, Jamaica Tallawahs, David Miller contributed some valuable 32 runs, in the end, to post a massive total of 206 for six runs in 20 overs allotted overs.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ Ben Cutting bagged two wickets while picking up the vital wickets of Tallawahs Powell, and Miller.

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots started their innings a bit late due to weather condition.

However, the match was reduced to 11 overs. Captain, Chris Gayle, and Evin Lewis started their innings, however, Tallawahs’ Oshane Thomas delivered a superb delivery and bowled him out of the very first delivery.

Gayle and Rassie van der Dussen build up a steady partnership of 53 runs.

Krishmar Santokie picked up the wicket of explosive Gayle with 71 runs on the board. However, Adam Zampa for bowled a fantastic delivery and picked up the wicket of Ben Cutting of his very first ball.

Furthermore, Mahmudullah added 28 runs off his bat smashing two sixes and two boundaries. However, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots finished off their batting by scoring 118 runs at the loss of three wickets with five more balls to spare following the rain halt.
