There is no doubt about the fact that interim skipper of Team India, Rohit Sharma is one of the most exciting players to watch in white-ball cricket. He has already established himself as one of the greatest ever One-day International batsmen for India. He was a feast for the eyes while facing Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali in the Asia Cup 2018 fixture at Dubai.
The way Rohit does about his business in the limited-overs cricket deserves special mention. During the match against Pakistan, Rohit showed yet again why he is one of the greatest batsmen in the limited-overs format.
Rohit Sharma scored quickfire 52 off just 39 deliveries
Popularly known as the Hitman of Indian cricket, Rohit Sharma scored quickfire 52 off 39 deliveries as India were set a target of 163 runs.
It was some great piece of bowling by India which restricted Pakistan to a below-par score of 162 runs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar provided the early strikes as he bagged the wickets of both openers Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq respectively.
Despite a good partnership between Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik, Pakistan fell off the radar in the middle overs.
Kedar Jadhav, the part-time bowler, was exceptional in the middle overs and bagged three crucial wickets. He conceded only 23 runs in his nine overs spell and stemmed the run flow of Pakistan.
The Men in Green were eventually bowled out for just 162 runs. After a relatively slow start by India, Rohit suddenly changed the complexion of the game with some lusty blows from the 6th over.
He smashed some excellent shots and took the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners. Boundaries came flowing from his bat and India were approaching towards the target pretty briskly. He smashed a sensational front foot pull of Usman Khan for a huge six which went sailing over the second tier of the stadium.
Just a couple of overs, Rohit Sharma, executed a similar sort of a shot of Hasan Ali which went sailing over the fence for a huge six. It wasn’t quite as monstrous as the one against Usman, but it still went sailing over the fence. Eventually, India chased the target down in the 29th over with eight wickets in hand.
