Asia Cup 2018: MS Dhoni is the Perfect Fit to Bat at Number Four Position - Zaheer Khan

India’s fast bowler Zaheer Khan believes MS Dhoni is the perfect fit to bat at number four position in the ongoing Asia Cup. In fact, the number four batting position has been a headache for the Indian team. However, MS Dhoni hasn’t been in the best of forms. Dhoni has failed to rotate the strike, especially against the spinners in the initial stages of his innings.

In fact, Dhoni likes to take his own time before catapulting his attack on the opposition. Thus, it is imperative for India to give more deliveries to MS Dhoni. Therefore, Dhoni can settle into his groove while batting at the number four position. There is no denying the fact Dhoni can deliver the goods if he is given the freedom to bat higher in the order.

India’s batting conundrum have been perennial since the World Cup 2015. They have averaged 35.31 as they are placed on the tenth rank if we take the number four place into the consideration. Furthermore, India has tried ten batsmen at the much talked about position.

Meanwhile, Zaheer Khan believes Kedar Jadhav will find a place in the side as he can chip in with the ball.

Zaheer Khan said while talking to Harsha Bhogle at Cricbuzz Unplugged, “Someone has to take the responsibility of number four position and it has to be MS Dhoni. If you take a look at the loses of the Indian team, they haven’t had a good start. Once they haven’t got off to a good start, they haven’t been able to recover from a bad start. So you need experience, you need someone who has dealt with such kind of situations and soak in the pressure at that stage, take someone along with him. And that’s something MS Dhoni is brilliant at”.

Furthermore, former New Zealand fast bowler Simon Doull thinks on the same page as Zaheer Khan as he wants the Indian gloveman to bat at number four.

Dhoni has all the experience to come up good. Therefore, he can be given the responsibility to produce runs at number four place.
