Bangladesh left-arm seamer, Mustafizur Rahman says he performed only 60% to his abilities in the recently concluded series against the Windies and now hopes to do a lot better in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018.

Mustafizur bagged a total of 13 wickets in six limited-overs games against the Windies. He was also the pick of the bowlers in the T20I series bagging eight wickets in the three-match series. However, Mustafizur was still not satisfied with his performance and wants to do much better in the Asia Cup 2018, starting September 15.

“I could not give my hundred per cent while bowling in the West Indies. I would say, I have utilized 60 per cent of my ability,” Mustafizur was quoted as saying by reporters at Mirpur.

“Pacers need rhythm [in their bowling]. I am okay now, but I can find better rhythm. I still have the opportunity to improve in every area,” he added.

Injuries have halted Mustafizur’s Career

Injuries have impeded the progress of Mustafizur Rahman in his international career. He picked up a shoulder injury early on in his career during Natwest T20 Blast in 2016. Later, he sustained a grade two lateral ankle injury while doing a football drill with his teammates. That particular injury made him miss the start of the Bangladesh Premier League in 2017.

Despite injuries making life difficult for the pacer, Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman is determined to prove a point and get back to his old form in the upcoming Asia Cup 2018.

Speaking on his plans for the mega tournament, Mustafizur said he is eager to develop his skills under the new coach, Steve Rhodes.

“There is no such objective. But I’ll try to do well. Many people have expectations from me. I will try to fulfil that,” he said. “Previously, we had Hathu (Chandika Hathurusinghe), now there is a new coach. Different coaches plan differently. Although there haven’t been any massive changes, this coach’s plan, however, is a little different. If we can comply that, then it is possible to make progress.”
