Asia Cup 2018: Sabbir Rahman Misses Out in the Bangladesh Squad

The hard-hitting batsman of Bangladesh, Sabbir Rahman faced an axe from the Tigers squad that will feature in Asia Cup 2018. The Bangladeshi cricketer will face a hearing soon before the discipline committee of the Board.

Bangladesh who announced the squad on Thursday (August 30) which is full of surprise picks.

Rahman found himself in the headlines recently following his poor outings. However, it is his outfield activity that costed his spot in the latest development.

Allegedly, his latest brush includes abuses and threats to two of his fans on social media from his official Facebook account. His account faced deactivation soon after the incident.

Rahman’s alleged comments include the physical threat to the two fans including the foul language on the spot.

Sabbir Rahman in a similar situation:

Rahman was a part of the altercation in the last year as well. He assaulted a minor during the local match of Rajshahi Division. Apart from losing the central contract, he faced a fine of $USD 250,000 approximately.

The vice-chairman of the disciplinary committee made it clear that he will be permanently suspended if he suffered a similar breach in the future.

Soumya Sarkar, who grabbed the limelight after forming a part of preliminary squad faced an axe as well.

The top-order batsman, Mohammad Mithun found his name in the squad. Ariful Haque who has become a part of six Twenty20 matches to make it to the team.

Mithun, who was a part of the tri-nation series final in the January of this year is likely to take the lower-order role. Anamul Haque and Abu Zayed were the other omissions from the squad.

Bangladesh will kick-off the 14th edition of the Asia Cup 2018. Bangladesh will start their Asia Cup journey along with Sri Lanka on 15th September.
