How quickly time changes? Almost a year back, Sarfraz Ahmed got lauded for his astounding captaincy during the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 followed by the bilateral series. Now, after Pakistan got knocked out Asia Cup 2018, the very same person is facing the wrath of the public. Meanwhile, the former opener, Mudssar Nazar backs Sarfraz Ahmed.

To be honest, Sarfraz Ahmed is doing a thankless job for Pakistan team. He is leading the team across the formats and doing the wicketkeeper-batsman role, which isn’t an easy job for a single person to manage.

Speaking of the same, Mudassar highlighted the fact Sarfraz Ahmed got groomed over the years to do the job for Pakistan at the highest level. He also added Pakistan also owes a bit to the right-handed batsman.

Nazar went on top add saying one should give enough time for Sarfraz Ahmed to come good in the future tournaments. Meanwhile, he also questioned who will take the mantle if Sarfraz left.

“If you look at Sarfraz, and I’m talking about his younger days when he was the captain of the U-19 team, he has been groomed for the job. This was a case when Pakistan cricket followed some system. Normally in the past, we never paid heed to grooming a captain. And during his brief tenure as captain, although at times he was found lacking, he also brought results,” Mudassar Nazar quoted.

He won the Champions Trophy and I think the nation owes him a little bit. He should be given a little more time. He has had a lot on his shoulders. He is captaining in three formats and is also a wicketkeeper-batsman. He is doing a reasonable job,” Nazar told The Indian Express.

However, it seems like Nazar has got the valid point in his kitty. The change in skipper under current circumstances will lead to disaster in the upcoming prestigious 2019 World Cup.
