Pakistan cricket is slowly but steadily returning towards normalcy as far as hosting international teams on their home soil is concerned. The Asian giants were forced to play their home games at neutral venues for almost a decade in the wake of the militant attack on the Sri Lankan team bus in 2009.

The teams have been sceptical of touring Pakistan since the attack. In the wake of the attack, all the teams had decided against traveling to Pakistan. However, things have looked promising in recent times as the likes of West Indies, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have visited Pakistan. Last year, they hosted a Test at home ground for the first time since 2009.

Pakistan have also hosted Pakistan Super League (PSL) at home to show the world they are ready to host other countries again. And if everything goes according to plan in the coming months, the likes of Australia, England and New Zealand could tour the country too.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan spoke about the same, saying that the teams have already confirmed they would visit Pakistan in 2021 and 2022. He stated that the coming years will see Pakistan hosting international games on a regular basis, if the ongoing pandemic situation improves.

“These teams [England, Australia and New Zealand] have already confirmed that they will tour Pakistan in 2021 and 2022. Depending on the [global health crisis] situation, the coming years will see regular international cricket activities in Pakistan,” Khan said, as quoted by geosuper.tv.

Pakistan cricket will be also looking to get back on track as far as their performance is concerned. In the last couple of years, their performance has been dismal. In the recently-concluded series in England, they managed to register a solitary win. They lost the Test series 0-1 before drawing the T20Is 1-1.
