Australia U19 cricketers were involved in a shameful incident on social media before their quarterfinal clash against India in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup. The youngsters decided to have some fun on Instagram at the expense of Indian fans who are known for showering adulation on cricketers.

It all started when Australia open Jake Fraser-McGruk took to Instagram to post a picture of himself and state his excitement over the quarterfinal clash. But soon his teammates bombarded the post with racist comments as they mocked the Indian fans by taking a dig at their English. They also made fun of India fans’ habits of calling the cricketers sir.

The likes of Sam Fanning, Lachlan Hearne, Oliver Davies, Liam Scott and Tanveer Sangha were some of the Australian players who posted those derogatory comments.

But the Australian players were soon made to eat their words as India thrashed them by 74 runs to storm into the semifinal. And soon after the match ended, the Indian fans decided to give it back to the Australian youngsters. But before the matter could get out of hands, most of the players changed the settings of the Instagram accounts to stop the fans from slamming them.

As far as the match was concerned, favourites India came up with a solid display with the ball to stay on course for yet another U19 World Cup title. Asked to bat first, India scored 233 for 9 in the allotted 50 overs. In reply, Australia could only manage 159.

Australia’s chase of 234 was off to the worst possible start as they lost 3 wickets in the very first over. First to go was opener Jake Fraser-McGurk (0), who was run-out off the 1st ball before Kartik Tyagi picked two more wickets. Australia kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never looked in contention to win the game while chasing.
