Shaun Marsh hit a purple patch, as he slams his seventh ODI hundred at the Adelaide Oval. During the second ODI against India, the Australia veteran puts up a splendid show, scoring 131 off 123 deliveries. Alongside him, Glenn Maxwell played a cameo too, helping Australia score 298-9 in 50 overs. For India, the outing was all but mediocre, as Mohammed Siraj, the debutant in the game leaked 76 runs in his ten overs.
Australia in front after Marsh’s show
Australia won the toss for the second time and elected to bat first again. India’s opening bowling pair, Bhuvneshwar and Shami created early impact; getting Finch and Carey, respectively. Though at that stage it appeared, India would make further inroads in the game, the pair of Marsh and Khawaja defied such a notion. However, it was Ravindra Jadeja, who effected a brilliant run-out to break the partnership.
Peter Handscomb and Marcus Stoinis then thought of get-going at the earliest, failed in their attempts. Glenn Maxwell then joined Marsh in the middle, and the pair then wreaked havoc. Marsh slammed his seventh ODI ton, his third in the past six innings; while Maxwell was among the runs straight away.
Captain Virat Kohli looked a bit frustrated on the field as well; as his bowling changes didn’t really work. Though Kuldeep kept it tight until his last over, Mohammed Siraj couldn’t do the same. However, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers, pocketing four wickets.
India needs to win the second ODI
As India already trails 0-1 in the three-match ODI series, they need to win this game to level the series. In the first ODI, it was Jhye Richardson, who took four wickets and earned the MOM award too. Now, in the Adelaide match, Shaun Marsh’s brilliant ton has put Aussies noses in the front.
Meanwhile, India needs xxx to win the game.

The absence of a sixth bowler is hurting India.

Mohammad Siraj won't fit into the limited overs scheme of things until he learns how to adapt across formats. The kind of length he bowls is top class for red ball cricket. He has to learn that it isn't going to work in limited overs matches. #AUSvIND

This kind of Maxwell is the best asset team can have. Just that he has to stop throwing wickets and be bit more consistent. Stoinis and him can make best middle-lower order for Aussies.#AUSvIND

Everytime I have seen Mohammed Siraj bowl in white-ball cricket, he has always looked a half cooked material at international level. May be red ball cricket is where his success lies. Can be a decent hit-the-deck bowler in that format. #AUSvIND
