The fourth day’s play of the ongoing final Test between Australia and Indian National Cricket team at the pink-swathed Sydney Cricket Ground will commence 30 minutes before after the umpires had to call off third day’s early due to bad light.

Meanwhile, Kuldeep Yadav picked up three wickets, and Ravindra Jadeja had two as the Indian left-arm spinners reduced Australia to 236 for six before rain covered it in a pall of grey.

The on-field umpires called off the day’s early on day three with 16.3 overs lost and Australia still 386 runs behind at stumps. To make up, the teams will start half an hour earlier on day four, with Pat Cummins and Peter Handscomb resuming on 25 and 28 respectively. However, Australia started day three on a good note as they looked solid. Usman Khawaja brought out some classy sweeps against the spinners; however, he squandered a good start. In an attempt to replicate a step out cover drive, he misjudged a googly to give a simple catch to mid-wicket.

Australia crumbles after lunch

Since then, the Australian batters handled the Indian bowling attack pretty well, going to lunch at  122 for one. Right after, however, Harris chopped onto the stumps off an edge of Jadeja for 79. The wicket of Harris opened the floodgates as Australia lost their next five wickets within 70 runs. Shaun Marsh lasted long enough to show off a couple of good-looking drives before Ravindra Jadeja  fooled him by a straighter, while Travis Head gave Kuldeep a low return catch off a full toss.

It became 198 for six in the first over after tea, when Kuldeep bamboozled captain Tim Paine, being completely deceived by the flight and going for an expansive drive. Pat Cummins and Peter Hanscomb took care for the rest of the day’s play before poor light and a slight drizzle forced the players off 83.3 overs into the Australian innings.
