Former England skipper Michael Vaughan and ex-Australian opener Mark Waugh were involved in a discussion regarding the Australian team debacle. Michael Vaughan wrote an article for Fox Cricket in which he believes that Australia’s woes might not end even if Steven Smith and David Warner will get back into the squad.
However, former Australian opener Mark Waugh thinks otherwise and said taking out the best two batsmen from the team has had a big impact. Subsequently, former legendary spinner Shane Warne also jumped into the discussion and he agrees with the Englishman.

Australia is sliding down.
Meanwhile, Australia has a lot to worry as their batting has let the team down. In fact, their skipper Tim Paine also believed on the same ground as Mark Waugh.
“If you took Pujara and Virat out of India’s side I think you would have the same conversation. If you have got world-class players that are not in your team, are they going to add to our team?” Tim Paine had said in the press-conference after losing the third Test match.
On the other hand, Steven Smith and David Warner were banned for one year after the ball-tampering controversy. Since then, Australia has found it difficult to fill in the big shoes of two talisman batsmen.
Consequently, Australia’s domestic circuit which has always been strong has failed to throw strong contenders into the ring. Thus, Australia’s woes have manifolded in the recent past.

“If you think Australia’s problems will be solved the moment Steve Smith and David Warner are available for selection again then you are wrong,” wrote Michael Vaughan for Fox Cricket.
However, Mark Waugh didn’t agree with Michael Vaughan. Waugh replied to the post as, “I’m not so sure about that Mr.Vaughan. Assuming Warner and Smith get back to somewhere near there best I’m suggesting they will make a huge difference. You take the 2 best batsmen out of any cricket team in the world and see what happens or even 1. Kohli, Root, Williamson etc.”.

Subsequently, Shane Warne also agreed with Michael Vaughan as he questioned the overall standard of Australian cricket.
Warne said, “Unfortunately, I have to agree with @MichaelVaughan here Jnr. Yes, Warner & Smith will help, but Aust cricket needs a complete overhaul re the following. Coaching at all levels, the ridiculous under 23 programmes, academy etc. As we are not producing quality smart cricketers-why?”
