Australian opening batsman Aaron Finch has provided an update on his finger injury. Finch was hit on his right-hand index finger. Subsequently, he had to retire hurt in the second innings of the second Test match. In fact, Finch had come to bat once again. However, he lasted only one ball. Meanwhile, it has been a tough last couple of days for Finch.

The Aussie opener said he is fine now and he is expected to play the Boxing Day Test match at Melbourne. In fact, Finch claimed that he thought his finger is going to explode. Furthermore, the Australian ODI skipper was hit on the same finger while playing against Sri Lanka.

Aaron Finch looks good to play the Boxing Day Test.

“With a Boxing Day Test, being from Victoria, it’s going to have to be cut off (to not play),” he said on Sunday (December 23) in Melbourne. “It’s going to be a catch and bat today and reassess, but it feels like it’s improved 100 per cent over the last couple of days”.

Finch is confident of recuperating in time and will most likely play the third Test match. Aaron Finch had scored a fine fifty in the first innings of the second Test match. The right-hander had shown the compact technique in the first dig to deliver the goods.

“I got sent some new bats, so I’ve been walking around the lounge room and waving them around. It feels OK. If anything changes in the next couple of days, we’ll have to sit down and chat about that but, at this stage, it’s still business as usual and I plan to field at slip and do whatever else is needed. It feels like it’s improved 100% over the last couple of days.”

Meanwhile, Aaron Finch thought his finger is going to explode when he was hit by Mohammed Shami. Finch had added 112 runs with Marcus Harris for the opening partnership in the first essay.

“It was a bit of a shock, just the initial pain was the thing that got me. It felt like it was going to explode, which was quite funny,” he revealed. “I think just being hit a few times in the last month, a couple times by Starc at training then Shami out in the game, but it’s also an old break”.

Aaron Finch is going to hold the key for the Australian team as the experienced campaigner had done well in the Perth Test. The third Test match will take place at Melbourne from December 26.
