Australia vs India 2018: Australian Commentator Makes Fun Of Mayank Agarwal's First-Class Scores
Updated - 26 Dec 2018, 12:43 PM
Mayank Agarwal became the first Indian opener to make his debut at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Boxing Day in the ongoing third Test against Australia on Wednesday. He is India’s 295th player to debut in Test cricket as he got the cap just a few minutes before the match started at the MCG.
Meanwhile, the former Australian cricketer-turned-Broadcaster Keery O’Keefe ridiculed the scores of Mayank Agarwal in first-class cricket. He called that Mayank Agarwal’s triple hundred might have come against the waiters and the canteen people.
It is pretty uncool –
Waugh said Agarwal’s FC average of upwards of 50 is like 40 in Australia. Fans took to Twitter to vent their anger against O’Keefe. Meanwhile, a cricket journalist also found tweeting about the incident stating. “It’s pretty uncool to ridicule the FC comp of another country while using dubious stereotypes for a cheap laugh..”
Though there wasn’t exact audio or videotape of the comments by the Kerry O’Keefe, the lads, who listened the commentary aren’t pleased with those words. They let their anger out via their social media accounts.
It might just be me, but it's pretty uncool to ridicule the FC comp of another country while using dubious stereotypes for a cheap laugh…

As it happened:
On the eve of the Boxing Day Test, Agarwal became the 295th Indian player to receive a Test cap. Kohli made two more changes in the team, bringing in Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja in the team, in place of Rahul, Vijay and Umesh Yadav.
Marking the occasion, the batsman scored a half-century in his debut innings and became the highest run scorer on debut in Australia. Unfortunately, he was dismissed at the stroke of Tea on 76 as he nudged a delivery down the leg side to Tim Paine behind the stumps.
Earlier, Mayank Agarwal had a splendid domestic season in 2017-18 when he finished as the highest run scorer, getting 1,160 runs in 8 games. Later, he followed it up with a 723-runs in Vijay Hazare Trophy that saw him creating the record for the most runs in a domestic season by a player across all formats (2,141).
