The India skipper, Virat Kohli has got a lot on his platter ahead of the much-anticipated Test series against Australia. Adelaide is set to host the first game from 6 December onwards. However, the visitors have a realistic chance of beating a depleted Australia at their den and Kohli is in no mood to engage himself in uncalled banters. Meanwhile, the 30-year-old said he is more assured of himself now than the previous tours.

However, there are many viral footages of Kohli having a word or two with the Australian players in the past. The aggressive cricketer is known for wearing his heart on the sleeves. At times, emotions have got the better of the Indian leader, but he assures he is much wiser now.

I think from last time round, I’ve become more assured of myself, I don’t really find the need to prove anything to anyone,” Kohli told Macquarie Sports Radio.

Kohli gets candid on sledging

In the early stage of my career I used to think of these things as important milestones which are really important in one’s career, but now the focus is purely and solely on making the team win at any cost,” he said.

“So … I don’t find the need to get involved in anything with the opposition. And I think those are changes that keep happening gradually as you go forward,” Kohli added.

Australia will be out to prove a point

Meanwhile, the hosts are desperate to put up a good show, and they will be without the service of Steven Smith and David Warner. Under Justin Langer, Australia has managed to win just five of their last 21 international games and the series against India holds the key to the future.

Furthermore, Kohli feels Tim Paine’s side will still be aggressive even though there have been talks of playing the game with a lot of sportsman spirit.

However, after an impressive show in England, where he was the highest run-getter in the Test series; Kohli will look to add more runs to his already elusive record. The visitor’s trump card has amassed 6331 runs in 73 Tests at an average of 54.57.
