Former Indian batsman Virender Sehwag believes India is all set for a memorable win in the first Test match against Australia at Adelaide. India is in a commanding position as they need another six wickets to win the first match. Sehwag said it was firmly India’s day as they are in the driver’s seat. Furthermore, the former combative batsman lauded Ajinkya Rahane for batting beautifully.

Moreover, Virender Sehwag also praised the Indian bowlers for keeping the Australian batters in check. India bowled 49 overs and conceded their runs at a tight run-rate of 2.12.

India is in a dominating position.

In fact, the Indian bowlers bowled in a similar fashion in the first innings where they conceded their runs at 2.38. Thus, the visitor’s bowlers didn’t let the Aussie batsmen off the hook.

Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara gave an ideal start to India on Day’s four play. The right-handers added an alliance of 87 runs to help India tighten their grip on the match.

Rahane scored his 16th fifty to get back into form. On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara continued with his fine form as he scored his 20th half-century. Pujara scored 71 whereas Rahane amassed 70 to help take India’s lead to 323 runs.

However, India’s tail took their foot off the pedal as they went for rash shots. Thus, India’s last five wickets could add only 25 runs. Meanwhile, Indian bowlers were once again right on the mark.

Ravichandran Ashwin scalped two wickets whereas Mohammed Shami also took as many wickets to help their team end on a high. Hence, Australia needs another 219 runs to win while India needs another six wickets to grab the first match.

Virender Sehwag took to Twitter to sum-up fourth day’s play. Sehwag post read as, “Firmly India’s day today and all looks set for a memorable India win. Rahane batted beautifully today and the bowlers were excellent to not allow Australia to score freely and pick up 4 wickets #AusvInd”.
