Well, Virat Kohli has got the greatest asset in his fast bowling department like any other Indian captain ever had. Yeah, you guessed it right, it is Jasprit Bumrah, who has been quite exceptional across the formats for India. Meanwhile, Dennis Lillee recollects Jeff Thomson, who used to be different like Jasprit Bumrah.
Jasprit Bumrah is delivering the goods for India in every format of the game. He has evolved as the greatest death bowler that game has ever seen and bagging wickets on regular intervals in the longer version of the game as well.
Jasprit Bumrah is not a Textbook bowler by any means – Dennis Lillee
Jasprit Bumrah has got unique skills under his kitty. Dennis Lillee impressed with Bumrah’s short run-up before delivering the ball and his unique action to get the better of a batsman. Further, he recollected his playing days, where Jeff Thomson has been that sort of a bowler.
However, he rates Jeff Thomson above Bumrah, as far as fast is concerned. However, he made it clear that both the bowlers have worked their ways successfully despite following the outside lines of fast bowling from the Textbook.
”I think Jasprit Bumrah is very very interesting. He runs off a very short run-up. He jogs and then bowls with a very short run. He has got straight arms. His bowling is not textbook by any means, but it works,” he quoted.
“He is very different from other pace bowlers, which reminds me of another fast bowler of my era, who was very different from everyone else – Jeff Thomson. He is not as fast as Jeff Thomson was but similar in the sense that they were outside the guidelines of normal fast bowling action or technique,” Lillee told Ananda Bazar Patrika in an interview.
Well, as Dennis Lillee said, Jasprit Bumrah has been terrific for India with his unique bowling action. He has already delivered the required goods for India and will play a crucial role in the times to come.
