Rohit Sharma offers Tim Paine a Mumbai Indians contract but on one condition. He asked the young wicketkeeper-batsman to score a century. In a case of doing that, Rohit Sharma challenged that he would offer him a place in the Mumbai Indians setup by talking with the franchise owners.

The on-field rivalry and the talks from behind the stumps have been the highlight of the India-Australia Test series so far. On Wednesday, again, the on-field sledge was on display as Australian skipper Tim Paine tried to break Rohit Sharma’s concentration while he was batting.

Rohit Sharma asks Tim Paine to score a century for IPL contract:

During the second day of the third Test of ongoing India’s tour of Australia at Melbourne, Australia captain and also wicket-keeper Tim Paine was heard on the stump mic passing cheeky comments to India middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma. He and Aaron Finch tried to pull the leg of Rohit Sharma.

The wicket-keeper talked about Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Mumbai Indians during the sledge and said, “It’s always been a toss up for me between the RR and MI, who I support. If Rohit hits a six here I’m changing to Mumbai.”

Actually, Tim Paine was talking about which team he is going to support in the Indian Premier League. He told Aaron Finch at short-leg that it was ‘a toss-up between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at this time’. He added, “If Rohit hits a six here, I’m changing to Mumbai Indians”.

Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma, in a conversation with Ajinkya Rahane revealed ”I was hearing that but when I’m batting I just focus on the job at hand. But I had a chat with Ajinkya Rahane and I joked that if he (Paine) gets a hundred here, I will put in a word about him to my boss at Mumbai Indians and we’ll buy him. Looks like he’s a fan of Mumbai”.

The drama in the middle left Rohit Sharma in splits at times as well. However, Rohit Sharma maintained his concentration and played with utmost determination to bring up his 10th Test fifty in his career. All in all, an exciting couple of days are ahead.
