The Indian skipper Virat Kohli is on the cusp of another ten records and he can achieve them all in the Boxing Day Test match against Australia. Kohli had scored a majestic 123 in the second Test match at Perth. However, his 25th Test hundred had gone in vain as India lost the match by 146 runs.

Meanwhile, it is well known that Virat Kohli likes to deliver in the winning cause. Thus, Kohli will hope that his runs help India in taking the lead again in the four-match series.

Here are the ten records that Virat Kohli can break:

Virat Kohli needs another 181 runs to leapfrog Ricky Ponting’s record. Kohli will become the highest run-scorer across format if he gets 181 runs. The talisman right-hander has scored 2653 runs in 2018 whereas former Australian skipper had scored 2833 runs in 2005.

If Virat Kohli scores his 26th Test hundred, he will equal his idol, Sachin Tendulkar’s record. The Master Blaster had scored 12 centuries in 1998. Kohli has 11 tons in the ongoing calendar year.

Kohli will also equal the record of former legendary batsman Sunil Gavaskar if he scores a hundred. The Indian skipper has scored seven centuries against Australia whereas the Little Master had scored eight hundred against the Aussies. Sachin Tendulkar tops the list with 11 centuries.

The Indian captain is 82 runs shy from Rahul Dravid’s tally of 1137 overseas runs in 2002. Kohli has thus far scored 1065 runs on foreign soil in 2018 as dominated on tour of South Africa and England.

Kohli needs another 156 runs to become the highest run-getter away from home in a year. Furthermore, Kohli will also become the highest scoring Test captain in a calendar year. Graeme Smith had scored 1212 runs in 20 innings in 2008.

Virat Kohli will join former legend Gary Sobers if he completes his 26th Test hundred. Kohli will become the 12th joint highest on the list which is topped by Sachin Tendulkar.

The Indian skipper will surpass former West Indies captain Clive Lloyd’s tally of four centuries in Australia, provided he gets to the three digit mark.

One more Test win will make Kohli the joint most successful captain while leading outside Asia. Kohli has five Test wins outside the subcontinent whereas Sourav Ganguly had six wins.

Kohli will complete his 63rd International hundred if he gets to magical figures in Melbourne. This will be the third highest with Kumar Sangakkara. Sachin Tendulkar (100) and Ricky Ponting (71) are the top two.

Virat Kohli requires another 149 runs to leapfrog Clive Lloyd record of most runs as visiting captain in Australia. Kohli has scored 1152 runs in Australia whereas Lloyd had scored 1301 runs.
