Former Australia cricketer Ricky Ponting heaped praise on Indian National Cricket team’s bowling unit saying that this is the best Indian bowling attack to visit Australia ever.
Meanwhile, the bowling unit has done an important job picking all 60 wickets in the three Tests so far. As a result, they now lead the four-match Test series by 2-1 with one game to play. They also recorded their first-ever Boxing Day Test win Down Under. The spirited effort in the MCG Test also saw Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ishant Sharma break the record for most wickets by a pace trio in a calendar year set by Windies greats Joel Garner, Malcolm Marshall and Michael Holding (130 wickets) in 1984. The much-talked-about India pace trio finished 2018 with 136 wickets after impressive showings in South Africa, England, and Australia.

“… Full credit to (Kohli). He’s got a good attack at his disposal It’s certainly their best attack to come to Australia. They’re all slightly different as well – to pick a really good attack, you’ve got to have guys that are a bit different and all work really well. That’s what India have done really well,” Ricky Ponting told cricket.com.au.
India read conditions at the MCG better
Ricky Ponting also conceded that India might have read the conditions better than Australia in the Melbourne Test. However, previously, Ponting criticised Cheteshwar Pujara of being too slow, which he thought will cost India the match.

“There was a chance for a few of us to be critical after the first couple of days after how slow they batted, but they must have understood the conditions better than some of us did because It certainly did start to play some tricks day three and four,” Ponting said.
“You can’t criticise, they’re 2-1 up in the series, they did everything perfectly in Melbourne,” Ponting concluded.
