India has currently won the two-match Test series against the Windies, where Umesh Yadav bagged his maiden ten-wicket haul in Tests and looked in readiness to fire all cylinders in Australia later next month. However, Umesh Yadav made his international debut in 2010. It was when India’s pace attack was still under construction. However, the 30-year-old speedster from Vidarbha now has become a regular bowler in the Test playing XI.

Umesh – a praiseworthy candidate for Australia Tests

Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav recorded a ten-wicket match haul against the Windies in Hyderabad. Though he had to manage the extra overs to cover up for the injured Shardul Thakur, Umesh’s spell helped India run-riot on day three of the second game.

Moreover, Umesh Yadav has improved by leaps and bounds and bowled an excellent spell in the first innings, where he picked up his maiden six-wicket haul in Tests.

For now, the selection would be a headache for Virat Kohli, Ravi Shastri, and the BCCI selection, as Umesh Yadav’s brilliant show would eventually push them for Yadav’s selection in the playing XI for Adelaide Test.

In seven Test matches on the Australian soil since 2011-12 — his debut overseas assignment — Umesh Yadav has claimed 25 wickets, including a five-wicket haul in Perth.

“I think he should go to Australia based on how he is bowling at the moment. He has hit the correct form. It is pretty good the way he is moving the ball. It doesn’t happen in India that much, but he will be effective in Australia,” former India pacer Subroto Banerjee, told Sportstar on Monday.

Moreover, Subroto Banerjee feels Umesh Yadav should practice more on his practical aspects before entering into India’s squad ahead of Australia’s tour.

“He should know the bounce and pace of the wicket, the kind of batsmen and the shots they could play. He should work out all these practical aspects before going to Australia. If he uses his brain and tactically prepares himself, he will do well,” Banerjee added.

However, Umesh Yadav will also make the Indian pace attack more strong with Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Mohammed Shami already in the ranks.
