Australia’s premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc got the better off India’s opener Murali Vijay. In fact, Vijay didn’t get his front foot to the pitch of the ball as he produced a faint edge which was neatly taken by Australia’s skipper Tim Paine. Hence, Australia has had a perfect start in the opening session. Earlier, Josh Hazlewood was able to dismiss KL Rahul as he was fishing at the wide off stump ball. In fact, Rahul bat came down at an angle.
Both the Indian openers perished while attempting to play the cover drive. In fact, there is no doubt that both of them could have left the ball alone. However, it wasn’t to be the case. Thus, both Australian pacers were able to give a good start to their team.
Meanwhile, the onus is once again on Virat Kohli, who had won the toss and elected to bat first. India has preferred their limited overs deputy Rohit Sharma ahead of Hanuma Vihari in their final XI. On the other hand, Australia had already confirmed their playing XI yesterday.
Murali Vijay was looking good as he had faced 22 balls before going for the expensive drive. In fact, the ball was there to be hit as it was all but a half-volley. However, Vijay could not get the connection he wanted.
Meanwhile, India’s captain Virat Kohli has the company of the number three batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. Kohli had scored 692 runs on the previous Down Under tour and would like to repeat the same performance.
India is currently at 19-2 with repair work to be done. Thus, Australia is the happier of the two sides.
