Former India opener, Aakash Chopra makes a pick between Rohit Sharma in limited-overs cricket or Virat Kohli in Test cricket as to who will be missed more on the Australia tour.
Australia will host India for six white-ball games and four Test matches. The three-match ODI series commences on 27th November followed by 3 T20Is. The high-intensity Border-Gavaskar series will begin on 17th December with a day-night Test in Adelaide followed by the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne, New Year’s Test in Sydney, and the last Test match in Australia’s fortress, Brisbane.
Rohit Sharma is given rest from the limited-overs leg to recover and be fully fit from an injury he sustained in the IPL. However, the question which everyone is raising that if he wasn’t fully fit, how was he allowed to play the playoffs of the IPL?
Kohli will be missed a little more in Tests than Rohit Sharma in limited-overs matches: Aakash Chopra

During a fan interaction on his Facebook Page, Aakash Chopra was asked about who will be missed more of the duo. He replied by making an analogy of the two batters with the human eye as both are important and it creates a big void if one is removed. Chopra feels that Rohit in ODIs on the big Australian grounds could be dangerous and the team will miss the opener as he is a brilliant player of short-pitch balls.
The cricketer-turned-commentator then said that he is confused that Rohit Sharma is excluded from the white-ball series against Australia, especially if the right-hander played a match-winning half-century in the IPL final. On the previous tour, the Indian captain scored 282 runs at an average of 40, including a hundred in Perth.
In his Facebook video, Aakash Chopra said, “They are the two eyes, whom will you miss more. You need both the eyes to see and if you remove one of the eyes, then it will definitely be a big miss. If you talk about Rohit in ODIs, these are Australian grounds where if he is not there, it is going to be very very difficult. The ball will have the pace and the bounce, you will miss his experience.”
“I am still not able to understand that if a person was fit on the 10th, was playing the IPL final and played a good knock to win the match, how he cannot be a superhit on the 27th. This is something I am still not able to digest,” he added.

The 43-year-old Chopra then opined that while both the stalwarts are going to be missed, however, since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is a high-profile series and India will want to retain it- Kohli will be missed more in Tests than Rohit in coloured clothing.
“Although you are going to miss both of them equally, because I give more importance to Test cricket than white-ball cricket, especially if it is the Border-Gavaskar Trophy which you need to retain, then it will be very difficult without Kohli. So maybe Kohli will be missed a little more than Rohit Sharma,” Aakash Chopra further said.
