The Bangladeshi Tigers would be delighted with this Test match win over Ireland. Bangladesh won the match by 7 wickets. It won’t be wrong to say that this was a hard-fought victory for Bangladesh. Ireland showed a lot of fighting spirit & grind the opposition with their sheer defense.

It was a collective effort from Bangladesh’s bowlers. The likes of Taijul Islam & Mehidy Hasan Miraz had to toil a lot for picking wickets despite the pitch offering ample assistance to the spinners. Skipper Shakib al Hasan made sure that the team doesn’t lose hope as at one stage it looked like Ireland would set a target in excess of 175 runs
Great Fight by Ireland
We should not forget that Ireland had 7 debutants in this Test match & played their first Test match after 2019. Lorcan Tucker was the biggest positive, the wicket-keeper batter struck a fine ton when the team were in a precarious position in the 2nd innings. Andy McBrine’s knock of 72 runs in 156 balls was quite laudable.

Ireland have made a statement to the ICC that they can also compete in the toughest format of the game. It would be interesting to see whether the likes of Ireland & Afghanistan (* who got the status of ICC Test matches) play against quality teams on a regular basis.
