Sri Lanka batter Kusal Mendis was hospitalized after complaining of chest pains as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh clashed in the second Test of the series in Mirpur, Dhaka. The first Test ended in a draw and Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat first in the second Test match.

Both sides had two changes to their playing XIs each. Mossadek Hossain and Edabot Hossain replaced Nayeem Hasan and Shoriful Islam in the Bangladesh side; while Kasun Rajitha came into the Sri Lankan side.

Bangladesh lost their openers in the first two overs of the day as Kasun Rajitha and Asitha Fernando looked in a devastating mood as they reduced Bangladesh to 24/5. Shakib al Hasan scalped a golden duck while both openers Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudul Hasan made ducks as well. Najmul Hasan made 8 runs, while captain Mominul Haque made 9 runs.

Much needed stability was brought into the Bangladeshi innings when veterans Mushfiqur Rahim and Litton Das came together and added a century-plus partnership for the sixth wicket. At the time of writing this piece, Mushfiqur Rahim was unbeaten on 62 with 10 fours, while keeper-batter Litton Das made 72 with 10 fours to his name, with the duo adding 128 unbeaten runs and Bangladesh on 153/5.

Meanwhile, in a scary situation, star Sri Lanka batter Kusal Mendis fell ill while on the field. He was complaining of chest pains and had to be taken off the field in the 23rd over of the Bangladeshi innings.

The latest reports have revealed that the wicketkeeper-batter has been hospitalized in Dhaka. The right-handed batter was seen in some discomfort as he was holding his chest area while being helped off the field of play on Day 1 of the 2nd Test Between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

The Sri Lankan camp will hope that the batter is not seriously hampered as he was in good touch in the 1st Test. He was good with the bat, scoring a fifty and adding a crucial 98-run partnership with Angelo Mathews.
