Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced a 15-member squad for the series against Sri Lanka A. Bangladesh A will square off with the Sri Lankan team in three four-day games and as many List A fixtures.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s experienced domestic player, Tushar Imran has also made the cut in the 15-member squad.
The series will commence from June 26. However, the Bangladesh board is yet to name the captain of the side.
Golden Opportunity for Tushar Imran to make a comeback into the senior national team.
Tushar Imran is one of the veterans of the Bangladesh domestic circuit. The right-handed batsman has scored a truckload of runs in his first-class career. In fact, he is the only Bangladesh batter to score more than 10,000 runs in the domestic set-up.
Tushar has thus far played five Test matches and 41 One Day Internationals for the senior Bangladesh team. However, he failed to deliver consistent performances which ruled him out from the national team.
Meanwhile, the right-hander has kept performing well at the domestic level. Thus, Bangladesh chief selector, Minhajul Abedin believes Imran deserves his chance in Bangladesh A team.
”He is scoring consistently in the domestic tournament, so we wanted to provide him with a chance to see where he stands against international opponents,” chief selector Minhajul Abedin told Cricbuzz
”If he is able to perform, naturally, we will think of him in a broader perspective but it is also a fact that everyone who scores heavily in the domestic tournament isn’t successful in the international arena. Let’s see where he stands in the series against the Sri Lanka A team,’‘ he added.
Meanwhile, Sabbir Rahman and Mosaddek Hossain who was shown the exit doors from the team which will tour the Windies, are included in Bangladesh A side.
Furthermore, the young leg-spinner, Rishad Ahmed who played in the Under-19 World Cup has earned his place in the squad.
Bangladesh A squad: Shadman Islam, Soumya Sarkar, Mizanur Rahman, Afif Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Mohammad Saifuddin, Naeem Hasan, Rishad Ahmed, Saif Hasan, Zakir Hossain, Tushar Imran, Nazmul Islam, Abu Hider Rony, Mosaddek Hossain.
