In what comes as a devastating news, young Bangladesh cricketer, Sajibul Islam Sajib, has been found hanging at his residence, according to police.

Sajibul Islam was a standby of Bangladesh U-19 squad that won the 2020 ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa.

According to Sajibul Islam Sajib’s family members, the young cricketer died by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his Rajshahi’s Durgapur Upazila residence on Saturday night.

According to his relatives, Sajibul Islam Sajib was left bitterly disappointed and frustrated after he was overlooked for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.

“Sajib killed himself on Saturday inside his bedroom by tying a rope around his neck. We found him hanging while looking through window as he was not responding. We then reported the incident to police,” Mofazzel Hossain, Sajibul Islam’s cousin was quoted as saying by bdnews24.com

After being informed by the family, the police recovered the hanging body in his room and allowed the family to proceed with the burial without a formal postmortem.

Sajibul Islam Sajib had a penchant for the game right from his childhood days and despite a plethora of reservations from his family, he was successful in getting himself enrolled in private coaching centers run by former Bangladesh cricketer, Khaled Mahmud Sujan.

Needless to say, Sajibul Islam Sajib’s family members are shocked by his sudden demise.

“I cannot imagine that such a nice and talented young man can make such a mistake,” said Sujan.
