Nine Bangladesh Cricketers To Resume Individual Training From Sunday

Bangladesh cricketers have found a new ray of hope with regards to commencing training as they look forward to their potential international fixtures. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced that nine cricketers would resume training across four venues from Sunday. The national team last played an international match against Zimbabwe in March.

According to a statement by the BCB, they have mentioned four grounds to be used for training. The four venues are Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet and Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna. It is for the first phase of the practice sessions by adhering to all the necessary safety protocols.
The statement read that players will partake only in running and gym sessions at the academy and batting at the indoor centre. The other three venues would be available for running and gym only. Prominent Bangladesh cricketers including Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Islam, and Nafees Iqbal tested positive for COVID-19; however, all of them have recovered from the same.
“Players will take part in running and gym sessions at the academy, batting at Indoor centre. Other three venues will be available for Running and GYM only,” the statement read.
Mushfiqur Rahim amongst the nine Bangladesh cricketers:
The likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Imrul Kayes, Mohammad Mithun, and Shafiul Islam would train in Dhaka while Syed Khaled Ahmed and Nasum Ahmed are slated to practice on Sylhet. On the other hand, Mehdi and Nurul Hasan would use the training facilities in Khulna while the sole venue in Chattogram goes to Nayeem Hasan.
Earlier this month, the BCB proclaimed that all the eight major international and first-class grounds are being prepared for the inevitable return of the sport in the nation. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, their Test tour of Pakistan while the limited-overs visit to of Ireland got postponed. In addition to that, the Test matches against Sri Lanka and New Zealand slated to take place at home in August-September were also deferred.
