Women’s cricket never managed to catch the eyes of a spectator like men’s cricket have done in the contemporary cricket. But despite this fact, women’s cricket improved by leaps and bounds and even the infrastructure for women’s cricket has gone from strength to strength.

About a couple of decades ago there was hardly women cricketer emerging through the ranks. The family problems more of than not prevented girls from making cricket as their profession.

However, the condition has changed quite drastically in the last few years.

We are all aware of the fact that how Sachin Tendulkar inspired a generation of cricketers. Tendulkar was the reason why the man took up cricket and wanted to be the next Tendulkar.

Even Indian skipper Virat Kohli conceded to the fact that he started playing cricket only because of the “Little Master”.

Well, there are several kids like Virat, who grew up idolizing Tendulkar. Not only in India but Tendulkar had a huge fan base all over the world.

Especially in Australia, Tendulkar had a huge fan base. Just like Tendulkar is there is a women’s cricketer who inspired a general of women’s cricketer is none other than former skipper Mithali Raj.

The right-handed batter Mithali is definitely one of the greatest women cricketers of all time. She is a terrific batsman and her record in international cricket speaks volumes for her credentials.

Mihali has several records up his sleeve and recently became the first Indian women to score 2000 or more runs in T20I cricket. She is also the only women’s batswoman to score more than 6,000 runs in One-day International cricket.

The prominent batter Mithali was part of the Indian squad for the Women’s World Cup which was held last year. She played some stellar knocks which eventually helped India qualify for the final.

However, they lost in the final hurdle losing the match by nine runs.

BCCI Congratulates Raj on her another feat:

After Mithali became first Indian batswoman to score more than 2000 runs in T20I cricket, BCCI took to their Twitter handle to congratulate one of the greatest women cricketers of all time.
