The Board of Control for Cricket in India [BCCI] has locked in the tentative schedule for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

The BCCI, which has locked in September 26- November 08 as a potential window to stage the lucrative league, is going all out to ensure that the 13th edition of the IPL takes place this year, even as the ICC continue to defer the final call on the T20 World Cup to July.

According to the latest reports, the BCCI has spoken to the franchises, broadcasters, and other stakeholders before coming up with the schedule for the T20 competition. The schedule is of-course subjected to ICC’s decision on the T20 World Cup, which is originally scheduled to take place in Australia in October.

As per the latest report, the BCCI isn’t ready to wait that long and Sourav Ganguly mailed the letter to member associations.

“We can’t keep our plans on hold. ICC has to decide on the T20 World Cup way forward and we have to decide on our plans. That is the reason tentative window has been zeroed down and we will start preparing as per this window for IPL”, an unnamed BCCI member was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

That said, the BCCI is yet to decide on the venue. With coronavirus cases continuing to increase in India, there has been a food for thought that the IPL may be shifted out of the country. Sri Lanka and the UAE have already shown their interest in staging the league.

Recently IPL governing council Brijesh Patel had said-

“The IPL 2020 can be hosted closed doors, can be limited to fewer venues, can be taken overseas, can be even played without international players” Patel had said.

Earlier today, Cricket Australia chairman Earl Eddings had reckoned that even though the T20 World Cup hasn’t been formally called off, it looks highly unlikely that it will take place this year, potentially clearing the window for the IPL.
