As the thirteenth edition of the IPL came to an end on Tuesday, the BCCI has already started planning for the next season of the tournament. IPL 2020 concluded with the final between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai.
According to a report in The Hindu, the BCCI is likely to conduct a full auction before the next year’s tournament gets underway. Several reports in recent times have suggested that the next auction could be a small one because of the lack of time between the two IPL editions.
The BCCI is willing to add another team to the IPL to strike financial balance after the pandemic hit. The franchise is likely to be based in Ahmedabad. In all likelihood, a corporate giant will go all out to bag the franchise.
Mumbai Indians clinch fifth title:
Talking about the IPL final, Mumbai Indians thrashed Delhi Capitals by five wickets to become the first side to win the tournament an unprecedented five times. The Rohit Sharma-led side also became just the second team after Chennai Super Kings to retain the IPL title.

Mumbai Indians faced very little difficulty in crossing the finishing line as they beat Delhi Capitals for the fourth time this season. Batting first, Delhi Capitals scored 156 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. Shreyas Iyer top-scored for Delhi, scoring an unbeaten 65 while Rishabh Pant scored 56.
In reply, Mumbai Indians chased down the total in the 19th over. Rohit led from the front and scored a fine 68 before being dismissed in the 17th over. The likes of Quinton de Kock, Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan also played fine handy knocks.
