New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling has named the toughest bowling pair he has faced in his career so far. Arguably the best Test wicketkeeper-batsman in the world at present, BJ Watling has been playing Test cricket for more than a decade, having made his debut in 2009.
The right-handed batsman has faced some of the great bowlers of this generation in his decade-long career. He has faced bowlers around the world and has also proved himself. The New Zealand star has been a prolific run-scorer in Test cricket in recent years. He has scored more runs as designated wicketkeeper than anyone else this decade.
Earlier this year, he was named in ICC Test Team of the Year after an impressive 2019 with the bat that saw him score a stunning double century at home during the series win against England.

In a video interview with ESPN Cricinfo, BJ Watling was asked to rate the best duos he has faced in his career. In reply, the Kiwi star picked Indian duo Ravichandran Ashwin – Ravindra Jadeja and former South African Test bowling duo Dale Steyn – Morne Morkel.
“When it’s turning in India it’s obviously very tough to play any spinner, really,” BJ Watling said. “The likes of [Ravichandran] Ashwin and [Ravindra] Jadeja, if conditions are in their favour, it is extremely hard work to score runs in itself, and to not get out.
