Ever since Twenty20 cricket became popular, the number of dot ball has gone down considerably. Rarely in T20 matches do you see a dot ball because the batsmen are always looking to hit the ball hard. This is why players who bowl dot balls consistently in the 20-overs format are difficult to find.

The Indian Premier League (IPL), is renowned for its batsmen but in the same league, some bowlers make life difficult for the batters by bowling dot balls. Some players, not only trouble batsmen consistently in the T20 format, they create records by doing so.

Today, we will be taking a look at five such players who have bowled the most number of dot balls in a single IPL season.

There are two things to note here, first that all the bowlers in this list are pacers, coincidentally, and second that even Indian players feature on this illustrious list.

Five bowlers who have bowled most dot balls in a single IPL season:

5) Ashish Nehra

Nehra bowled 170 dot balls in IPL 8, which means he bowled 28.2 overs without giving away any runs that term. The veteran bowled a total of 62 overs, and this speaks volumes about the incredible talent that he was.

The Delhi-born player represented CSK in 16 matches in 2015, having amassed 22 wickets to his name, at an average of 20.4.

Nehra had an economy rate of 7.24 throughout that season, and he picked up a four-wicket haul as well, in one of the games, although the left-arm pacer couldn’t help CSK win the title.
