The 28-year-old all-rounder has been the centre of attraction all throughout the summer. In the final of World Cup 2019, an overthrow that deflected off Ben Stokes’ bat saw England tie with New Zealand. In the super over, both the teams ended up having same scores and England were adjudged World Cup winners on boundary count.

His heroics in the final also saw him being nominated for New Zealand of the year award but he declined it, asking for people to vote for Kane Williamson.

If that wasn’t enough, Stokes’ heroics in the third Ashes Test added to his popularity. He famously scored 135* in the fourth innings, putting up 76 runs for the 10th wicket with Jack Leach when they were chasing 359.

Stokes ended up as second-highest run-scorer in Ashes with 441 runs. He also scalped eight wickets during the series.

After a long internatonal series, Stokes and other seniors will be given break by England as many of them are expected to be rested for the New Zealand T20Is. Though the regulars will be back for the Test series that starts on November 21.
