The star Windies all-rounder, Andre Russell has picked up his maiden BPL hat-trick on Wednesday. Playing for Dhaka Dynamites in the 2019 edition of the Bangladesh Premier League, Andre took three consecutive wickets in the 20th over of the first innings. Though it was his second T20 hat-trick, the first one came in CPL 2018; Andre cherished achieving the feat. Meanwhile, Chittagong Vikings batsmen, Mushfiqur Rahim, Cameron Delport and Dasun Shanaka, were the three players to get out to Andre Russell.

Russell had the last laugh

The hosts, Chittagong Vikings won the toss and elected to bat first. Mohammad Shahzad and Cameron Delport gave them a high-flying start. Though Sunil Narine had picked two wickets in Shahzad and Yasir Ali later on, Chittagong cruised past the 150-mark without further trouble. The pair of Delport and Rahim managed 79 runs before falling prey to the Windies all-rounder.

In the last over of the innings, when the scorecard read 167 for two, Russell struck gold. On the first delivery, Rahim thought of clearing the fence but failed in his attempt. The former Bangladesh captain got out caught at the long-off on 43 off 24 balls. On the next delivery, Delport tried hitting through the same path. Though he had middle-ed it throughout the innings, he didn’t time this one; finding Shuvagata at the deep. Came the hat-trick ball! Sri Lanka bowler, Dasun Shanaka thought of being cheeky by playing the paddle sweep, only to see Mizanur Rahman catch it comfortably at the short fine leg.
