One of the former greats of the game and the West Indies legend, Brian Lara is set to take part in the charity fundraising match for the Australian bushfires, which is due to be played on 8th February. Lara is one of the legendary players that are due to take to the field in support of a good cause.

The 50-year-old is remembered as one of the greats of the game, and he will join the likes of Yuvraj Singh and Wasim Akram for this fixture.

Moreover, joining them on the playing roster will be the legendary Australian opening partners, Justin Langer and Mathew Hayden.

Brian Lara to grace the cricket field again in a charity match for Australian bushfires:

The Australian bushfires were a series of devastating fires spread across the continent that became a global calamity within months.

As a sign of goodwill, some former greats of the game will reunite to play in a charity match, and the profits from this One-off fixture will go to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.

As per reports, one of the former legends scheduled to take part in the fixture is Lara who holds the record of highest scores in Tests and first-class cricket, 400* and 501* respectively.

Titled ‘Bushfire Cricket Bash’ the charity match will also feature various former Australian legends, namely, Mike Hussey, Brad Haddin, Andrew Symonds, Mathew Hayden.

Shane Warne and Ricky Ponting will lead two teams for the fundraiser.

Sachin Tendulkar will act as the coach for Ponting’s team:

Former Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and the West Indies bowler Courtney Walsh will act as coaches for Ponting XI and Warne XI respectively.
