Murali Vijay, CA XI vs India 2018

Indian right-hand batsman Murali Vijay was in a hurry to reach his century as he blasted Jake Carder for 26 runs in an over. Thus, he reached the three figures mark in the warm-up game against Cricket Australia XI. However, Murali Vijay struck a confident hundred whereas Kl Rahul scored a half-century in the second innings. The duo partnered 109 runs for the first wicket.

Vijay, who was dropped midway through the England tour returned to the Test squad with a bang. He celebrated his comeback with a fine century off 118 balls. The right-hander looked solid throughout the innings on the fourth day and had reached his half-century off 91 balls.

After that, Vijay raced through to the second fifty with the help of only 27 balls. Murali Vijay hit 26 runs off Jake Carder in one over to get to his hundred. Later he also partnered 102 runs with Hanuma Vihari as India finished at 211/2 in their second innings at stumps on day four.

Interestingly, CA XI’s 19-year-old pacer Aaron Hardie – who is yet to play a first-class game, bagged four wickets in the first innings. Indian skipper Virat Kohli tried all his bowlers but failed to rattle the batting order in quick time. Kohli bowled a spell of seven overs in the middle and eventually ended up dismissing the centurion, Nielsen. At 454 for 8, India should’ve wrapped the innings up but they were left frustrated by the tail, and CA XI scored 544 runs in the first essay.

Mulari Vijay recently played some first-class cricket for Essex where he had scored plenty of runs. He impressed the selectors after playing an excellent cricket and was thus called off for the Australia Test. Vijay will try to continue his show and provide excellent support to India.
