Well, after a fine period of time, here comes something interesting out from VVS Laxman. The former Test specialist for India, VVS Laxman, who is also the member of the Cricket Advisory Committee(CAC) quoted that they want to continue with Anil Kumble. However, the former leg-spinner doesn’t want to continue.
VVS Laxman felt that the entire episode was the bitter taste in the mouth. He quoted that the ex-head coach of India, Anil Kumble himself wanted to quit from the respective role, which created a lot of ruckus in the BCCI.
CAC is not marriage counsellors – VVS Laxman
There were the headlines during the tough phase, which highlighted the rifts between Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble. However, VVS Laxman feels that Virat Kohli never crossed the line but quoted that it just didn’t work out between them.

Further, he went on to add saying that CAC will only suggest the best persons to BCCI, where the actual appointment will be done. Alongside Ravi Shastri, they also suggested Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan for various roles but it didn’t work out.
“I don’t think Kohli crossed the line. We at the CAC thought Anil should continue as a coach but he thought the right decision was to quit and move ahead. It left a bitter taste in the mouth,” Laxman said during an event in Visakhapatnam.

“What I did not like was the way he was getting bad press during the Champions Trophy. The CAC wanted Anil to continue and the entire episode was very unfortunate. I always tell people CAC are not marriage counsellors. We were tasked with selecting the best possible job. We did a very elaborate process – unfortunately, Virat Kohli and Anil Kumble did not work out,” he added.
The CAC, comprising Laxman, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly, picked Kumble as national coach in 2016. They wanted to extend the period of Anil Kumble but unfortunately, the relation between the captain and coach didn’t work well.
