Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara has on Tuesday contributed to the PM Cares Fund and Gujarat CM Relief Fund and hoped everyone does their bit in the fight against the novel coronavirus pandemic. The fatal virus has been rapidly growing in the sub-continent in the past few days.

On April 2, at least 2500 people were tested positive, with the number taking a significant jump to 4500 by April 6. India has imposed an initial 21-day lockdown to withstand the massacre but looking at the situation, the centre is mulling over a possible extension, reports suggest.

Cheteshwar Pujara thanked the medical professionals and policemen who are working round the clock for their people in such a tense situation. Medical staffs, according to reports, have not visited their places since several days and continue to treat the patients.

Policemen, on the other hand, are making sure that people maintain social-distancing in such crisis situation and are not allowing more than one member from a family to go out to buy essentials.

“We are thankful to all the medical professionals, policemen and women and all others who are out there working hard for our country and humanity,” he added.

In India, the pandemic has claimed lives of at least 137 people, with significant rise in cases being recorded everyday. Reports also suggest the government is going to increase the number of tests everyday to 1 lakh per day in due course.
